Study commissioned by the Ministry of Environment and Forests says that the 24 hydroelectric power projects planned on the Ganga should be reappraised


 
A study by the Wildlife Institute of India commissioned by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, has recommended that the twenty four dams planned on the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers, the two main tributaries of the Ganga in Uttarakhand, should not be allowed, as they will cause irretrievable harm to the river.
